Abstract

Gonzalo de Torquemada, Sarnés and Juan de Padilla are three authors from the first half of the 15th century. Until now, they have not been given much attention in the cancioneriles studies, maybe for their reduced poetic corpus. For each one, I offer the critical edition of their poetry, from which Cancionero de Palacio is the main testimony (and codex unicus for Torquemada). The edition is preceded by the textual transmission, the main characteristics of their poetics and an approach to their historical profile, always based on the information provided by the texts. If Torquemada shows us as the initiator of the glosa genre in Spanish lyric, Padilla and Sarnés write one of the few samples of tensó in our letters. Besides, Sarnés and Torquemada are two names who, with their quills, write about their love success (both received the award of their ladies); this motif connects them in front of Padilla, poet of love suffering and author of a scathing satire. Exceptional themes, poetic games and infrequent genres make these poets stand out from the extensive list of cancioneril authors.
