Abstract

In the present work, the epibiont flora and fauna over the members of the Family Sertulariidae (Cnidaria; Hydrozoa) collected in the Galician coast (NW Iberian Peninsula), is studied. The most abundant phylla are Rhodophyta among the algae, çSarcomastigophora (Foraminifera) among the Protozoans and Cnidaria and Ectoprocta among the animals. The composition and species richness of the epibiosis in each sertularid species depends mostly on the batimetry. In this way, in the intertidal species, the algae and rhizopods, prevail, while over the sublitoral species the most abundant epibionts are the hydrozoans and briozoans.
