Abstract

In this work we aim to present a description and comparison between prosodic structures of two different dialects of Asturian language. In order to make it accurately we have selected two informants who live in two urban areas of our region; on one hand, Oviedo, which is in the centre of Asturias, and on the other hand, Mieres which is in the south. Both areas are recognized by the the traditional studies in Asturian Dialectology as representatives of the central linguistic dialect. In this sense, our first aim is to describe exhaustively the prosodic features of both dialects and, after that, compare them in order to show the differences and similarities, taking into account four main aspects: lexical accent, intonational accent, intensity and length.
