Abstract

Study of the assemblages of planktonic Foraminifera and Calcareous Nannoplankton permitted us to correlate the samples studied with the Upper Pleistocene, Zones NN19 and NN20 of Martini and isotopic stages 14-6. During the interval analyzed, significant fluctuations occurred in the fauna of both planktonic and benthonic foraminifera, pointing to oscillations in the dynamics of surface and deep waters related to glacial and interglacial cycles. The variations in the abundance of Uvigerinids and other benthonic species provide an excellent recording of the changes that occurred in the properties of the waters of the ocean floor.
