Abstract
We try to tackle the complex social and legal situation of our old people. That is why we trat the conceptualization of the exact terminology, sintetizing all movements related with this group and their needs, specially focusing on the legal situation of the elderly. This group of population will be the biggest in a few years. We analise the dependence and disability present in a great part of the old people, adding an appendix with the most important legislation on this issue. The media are offering a distorted image of an independent clear-thinking senior, opposite to the real proportion of dependent and independent seniors.
