Abstract

We aim to analyze the renewing work of Rosa Pons in the schools of Ribeira Sacra, Galicia, where she was banished to in the year 1924, and the Grup Escolar Ramon Llull de Barcelona, in the second Republican biennium. We consider it important to recover a biography of the Catalan education of the twentieth century, little known, as her being banished to Galicia deprived her from developing her career in her own land and language, but she was able to adapt to the cultural and linguistic environment in a very different reality, not being able to use her own language when teaching. Her notebooks of rotation, the testimony of her students, and her son -student allow us to approach the memory of a rural Galician school that introduced major innovations in the twenties, as well as the memory of an urban Catalan school, which held alive the spirit of the republican education in the second biennium.
