Abstract

This study reflects on the language and communication (metalanguage) used in the interrelation with transmedia journalism. In this sense, our methods are based on general semiotics as an innovative tool in communication sciences. The qualitative analysis technique is largely due to the data collection, including digital journalistic facts, narratives, stories, news and audio-visual content that interact on the Internet as products of web portals. This research studies the possibility of determining a new four-dimensional context. This implies new theoretical referents, among which media and the different traditional and digital platforms facilitate the reformulation of the dichotomous division between journalism and communication through language interaction. For this purpose, there are some approaches within the theoretical framework that support the key aspects in the discussion of the results. In the case of journalism, a digital bibliographical review on the way we communicate has been performed. In the case of communication, the trends to understand the quality of the message in the communication sciences have been reviewed. This study concludes that in these times, metalanguage is an evolution of the linguistic turn and creates a four-dimensional context on the Internet, based on the communication phenomenon in the discipline of social and taxonomic sciences of information.
