Abstract

In the past 30 years, research regarding the evaluation of professional practice in child custody has experienced a remarkable boom, highlighting a significant increase in the creation of new specific instruments and their use by experts. Fariña, Seijo, Arce, and Novo (2002) made a review of the specific instruments of child custody assessment that exist in the national and international context, showing that given the relative proliferation of such instruments in the English-speaking world, in our country there was a lack of psychological assessment instruments and intervention in the field of determining custody. This study is a literature review that allows complete and update the work of Fariña et al. (2002), devoting a special section to the Spanish context. The results have shown a slow but incipient rise in the creation of specific assessment instruments designed for use in child custody evaluations in Spain and the international context.
