Abstract
Background: Training for job search is a major concern among the university students, particularly during the last years of their degree programs, for their lack of specific knowledge on this field. Methods: A survey research was conducted with the aim of determining how the students of the Higher Technical School of Telecommunication Engineering in the University of Vigo face their access to the labor market. The questionnaire was designed through Google Docs/Drive and the data were analyzed with Excel and Dyane programs. Results: The students ignore the resources offered by the university environment (the employment service, the training activities and also the online tools), except the access to job opportunities. They feel themselves prepared for the job search, with regard to their knowledge on the labor market or their skills they have acquired, although this view contrasts with the reality of their training, when they have to answer control questions. Conclusions: The University must make a greater effort in promoting the existing resources, which are scarcely known by the students, as well as increasing the learning activities to provide them with more complete training and information on this field.
