Resumo

The economic analysis of fishing has had a rapid development in the last decades, which is mainly due to the greater concern for the conservation of fishstocks and the realisation of its scarcity and deterioration. The analysis is, hoewer, lacking information on multifllet fisheries, due to the fact that generally most fishermen involved in the exploitation of one fishery resource have been treated in a homogeneous way. In this paper, we state the main instruments (txes, licences and individual quotas) imposed on a fishing zone in which fleets with different technologies work. The objectives are to understand how this circumstanceaffects the analysis, to analyse whether it is possible to reach an efficient equilibrium in which both fleets could work together, and to analyse the regulatorymechanisms required to ensure an efficient and sustainable resource exploitation. This paper concludes withsome ideas and assessments related to the issue understudy.
