Abstract
In this article the releveance of the value of time is analysed in the context of travel demand and the key role played by this variable in reaching the social evaluation of investments in transport, in decision onthe optimum application of fares, or in the forecast of transport demand. Therefore, in theory, the importance of time as an economc factor is justifiable; the models and data most frequently used are described in order to assess the tendency to be prepared to pay to achieve time-savings and the experience learned in Spain and other countries is reviewed.
