This work is an empirical, longitudinal and transversal study of two groups of children from different environments (family and minor�s centre), and with differences in the linguistical developmental process, focusing in the pragmatic development of language, which is used to study the evolution and construction of concepts. After defining the study procedure and analizing the language development in the experimental subjects by considering the average length of sentences (ALS), the authors conclude that development is better in children from a family environment, with differences in the acquisition rhythm, and therefore, in the evolution of the symbolization process. Amongst other questions, the authors highlight that cognitive and/or linguistical delay in institutionalized children is a consequence of the inadequacy of demanded interaction guidelines between children and adults, stating that these guidelines are determined by environmental conditions. The work finishes by outlining that interaction, language and cognition are dialectically related.
