Zusammenfassung
Biber’s multidimensional mutilfactorial model of the functional characterisation of text types is one of the most significant approaches to the description of genres by way of the careful examination of the linguistic features occurring in a corpus. In this paper, on the one hand, we explore both the model and a variety of relevant studies which have made use of Biber’s analysis. On the other hand, we comment on some wrinkles to be ironed out in Biber’s approach which we have observed in our investigation. The article thus provides an insight into the intricacies of the model and the possibilities which mutifactorial analysis has as far as the characterisation of texts is concerned.
