Abstract

In this article we have tried to know the important role of the cistercienses and benedictines priories, located in the currents provinces of Pontevedra and Ourense, during Old Regime and in the Galician monkhood context. We can't leave out that these little institutions were the basis enclaves to the management of the rents of theirs headquarters: San Martin de Santiago and Santa María de Acibeiro, respectively. In this way, we expound two objectives: on the one hand, we want to approach to the evolutional study of the foral rent through the eclesiastical documents keeped in the Galician archives, in the benedictines priories of Carboeiro and Vilanova; and, in the other hand, we are trying to take up the accountant system, the incomes and expenses behavior in both institutions of the second half of the 17th century and the cistercienses priories of Banga and Beariz in 18th century. In this last case we made use of the accounts books keeped in the Archivo Histórico Nacional (Madrid).
