Resumo

This article analyses the artistic production of Marta María Pérez Bravo looking in particular at the political-social context in which this takes places. In the analysis of contemporary Cuban art, we discover a special syncretism between cultured and popular styles which together with other creative strategies forms one of the most attractive cultural practices of today’s artistic scene. Likewise, it is also interesting that new expressions far removed from a superficial assimilation of exotic styles are consolidated from peripheral situations, something which is repeated frequently in the Western consumer. Together with all of this, the work of Pérez Bravo has contributed to liberating the stagnant photographic discipline in Cuba, questioning its objectives and using photography as a support to an innovative cultural
