Abstract
This paper tries to assess the position of Galicia in the context of the new trends of community and world fishing. In order to do that, apart from summarizing the most significant changes in these scenarios, the essential points of recent economic discussions about regula-tion of fisheries are presented with the aim of supporting our final reflections on the immediate perspectives of Galician fishing
