Resumo

This paper outlines a sex education programme carried out with the parents of secondaryschool students taking part in a similar programme simultaneously. Results reveal an increasein participants’ overall level of satisfaction with their bodies, self-concept, and self-esteem,as well as an increased knowledge about sexual organs and nutrition. There was also a risein the number of egalitarian attitudes toward the two sexes and positive attitudes towardsexuality. Overall, participants’ evaluations of the programme were positive. They pointedout the importance of implementing programmes such as these, which offer an alternativeto the traditional model of education centered mainly on rational intelligence, and whichencourage more holistic development of personality among teenagers
