Spanish Economic Policy in a Period of Conflict: 1926-1933. In this paper we examine the nature of public intervention in the Spanish economy from 1926 to 1933, by means of a political-economical analysis. Having made a division in three periods which are related to the changes in the general political situation, we comparatively view the structure of the goals and the different means used to achieve them. All this leads us to the conclusion that there existed a remarkable continuity between the economic policies of the Dictatorship and the Second Republic, observable in the absence of a genuine conception of economic policy, in the lack of rigour in its elaboration and in the contradiction in the proclaimed goals and the specific policies that were carried out. This does not mean that there weren 't some notable differences: distinct political conditions and international economic situations, different ideas of growth and very dissimilar attitudes in the field of distribution.
