Resum

Detailed analysis of geophysical profiles (high-resolution seismic reflection, side-scan sonar and echo-sounder) have permitted detecting and characterizing the gas presence within the sediments of the Ría de Vigo, NW Spain. Gas accumulations have been categorized in four basic patterns: acoustic blanking s. s., acoustic curtains, acoustic columns, acoustic turbidity; whilst three patterns of gas seepings have been established: acoustic plumes, acoustic clouds and pockmarks. Finally, the zones with some sort of gas accumulation have been mapped within the Ría de Vigo. Their origin and possible control factors for their spacial distribution are discussed.
