Resumo

In these two papers discusses the thought of Fray Martín Sarmiento, an enlightened Galician. The first article outlines the scientific paradigms of the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries and their relationship to the pedagogical aspects, related to the sarmentian thought. We also describe the more important pedagogical thoughts of Fray Martín. In the second part of this papers will involve a detailed analysis of the proposals related to science education, particularly with the teaching of Mathematics and Astronomy.
