Abstract
In this paper we analyze the real reasons to prosecute Prisciliano, and legality of the process undertaken against the bishop of Avila, for which he was sentenced to death in a civil, foreign to the ecclesiastical conditions of Prisciliano. The conclusion is that the process was legal from the point of view of form, but not the reasons were adduced to reach the maximum penalty against the defendant.
