Resumo
This essay focuses on the river poetry of two authors from very different times: Friedrich Hölderlin and T.S. Eliot. The rivers of Germany, on the one hand, and the Mississippi on the other, serve as a starting point for a reflection on the sig-nificance of origins, leave–taking and the errant destiny of modern man.
