El triunfo de la Sociobiología

Resumo

The study of animal behaviour from an evolutionary perspective has allowed organising in a coherent theoretical framework a diverse number of behaviours, which until a few decades ago were unexplained. The most recent biological speciality that has arisen from these studies is the Sociobiology, which has been highly successful in the Academia. Nevertheless, that success is not accompanied by a positive social view, which criticise the adaptive methodology, especially when applied to the study of human behaviour. In this essay, I revise some of the key concepts to understand the evolution of behaviour, and refute some of the (unfair) criticisms to that methodology
