Abstract

The purpose of this study is threefold: 1) describe the throwing velocity by sex and competition success of the match, 2) analyze the relationship between index efficacy with the condition of winner or loser, 3) study the relationship between throwing velocity and performance efficacy. 830 throws were analyzed, for the King's Cup and Queen's water polo. We recorded the following variables: 1) throwing velocity by radar (StalkerPro Inc., Plano) and 2) efficacy situations game ended with throw through observational methodology. Descriptive statistics were performed and differences were observed between groups by ANOVA (post hoc Tukey). Statistical reliability is set at 95%. We found gender differences in relation to the throwing velocity. Between winner and loser were no differences in index related to the accuracy of the throw to goal. The throw velocity ratio and efficacy, appears to be a positive trend in which teams are able to pinpoint its throws at maximum velocities.
