Resumo

Acontecimientos como el triunfo del Brexit en el Reino Unido, la victoria de Trump en Estados Unidos o el auge de los populismos en algunos países europeos han supuesto una importante sacudida en el panorama político occidental, que se había mantenido estable desde la Segunda Guerra Mundial. Estos hechos abren nuevas y relevantes dimensiones para la comunicación política. Esta disciplina se enfrenta a destacados retos y amenazas, desde el punto de vista académico y de la acción política. Nuevos fenómenos como la pérdida de credibilidad de los actores políticos y de los medios de comunicación tradicionales, la banalización de la política, el uso de algoritmos para comprender, prever e intervenir en el devenir de la comunicación o el ascenso de los nuevos medios en la arena pública se combinan con viejos conocidos como la persuasión, la propaganda, la personalización o el dominio de las emociones. En este artículo se exploran nuevas líneas de trabajo, perspectivas, estrategias y posicionamientos y se reflexiona sobre la posibilidad que éstas ofrecen a la hora de establecer futuros recorridos teóricos, metodológicos y de acción dentro de un ámbito comunicativo caracterizado por su continua evolución en un contexto cada vez más incierto y cambiante.
