Abstract

We have made an descriptive study which ending point was to evaluate the ‘cura termal procotolizada’ and it’s effect on the growing old process. It’s participants were thermalists above 60 years of age and who stayed at any of the 3 Balnearios of Caldaria Termal in the Ourense province. The population described, belongs to Social Hydrotherapy program IMSERSO in the period 2011-2013. The data are generally collected and Medical Record specifically collect the following parameters: perception opinion to treatment, musculoskeletal pain, range of movement and functionality. It has been found evident symptomatic relief of pain, and less forceful an improvement in range of movement and general mobility. Following these results, we consider the important contribution of balneotherapy in the active aging population, we believe that the therapeutic activity could be part of geriatric care organization chart, and pose new challenges to research the time period that balneotherapy can help delay the inability of old age.
