Abstract

Detailed analysis and interpretation of high-resolution seismic profiles have allowed to detect and characterize the unconformity surface related to the last glacial sea level drop in the Ria de Vigo (NW Spain). Related to this main relative sea level fall, an important river incision took place in this region. Mapping of the major palaeovalley of this palaeodrainage system has been performed, showing that the open sea connection was made through the present south entrance. Isopach map of the Holocene sedimentary sequence has allowed to stablish the contours of this erosive surface (type I boundary).
