Abstract

Spain was a backward country in international tourism in the first third of the twentieth century. During this century, however, Spain became a tourist power. How and why did this transformation? What role did mass tourism on the Spanish model of development between 1939 and 1975? What economic effect did this process? The answers to these questions are the main focus of this paper
