Resumo

First step to specialize in the professional figure of personal trainer is to know exactly what a good personal trainer should be competent in. Clients of personal training service are becoming more demanding when they require results, a good process, attention and advice. This book tries to answer from the scientific rigor and experience of many years of professional development in which areas and aspects the personal trainer must be competent. For this purpose, this work exposes a different vision when it comes to approaching and sequencing the contents, in such a way that there is a common thread that guides reader and that is none other than the organization of the model of profession of personal trainer, which allows a global understanding of this professional field, increasingly demanded by society and always occupying a prominent place in the annual ranking of fitness and wellness trends. First, there is a complete exposition about how personal training is managed, its market and business possibilities, legal aspects, marketing and the most relevant psychological aspects, and is that the business model of personal training, like the consumer behaviour, has evolved remarkably in recent years. Next is the order of action of personal trainers in their own professional performance, it is described and discussed the protocols of evaluation of physical condition that can be used by personal trainer, the protocols of physical exercise and health more accepted by the international community in the case of chronic noncommunicable diseases, in pregnancy, postpartum and the elderly, as well as healthy nutritional advice, to which personal trainer must go as starting point with client when it was necessary, also explains how personal trainers should be a reliable and safe professional, so they should also know how to act when some type of accident happens. Finally, in the third part, it is exhaustively reviewed the effect of training as a cornerstone of results and objectives that the personal trainer is committed to reach with his client, as well as the most useful methods, techniques and tools to achieve this, postural work, flexibility, inertial resistance machines, suspension training or computer tools, among others. In this way, the work aims to be a useful guide for consultation and continuous support for both the professional of personal training within their continuous improvement process, as well as for those students who want to specialize in this field and want to take their first professional steps of a guided and organized way.
