O elemento auto- como xerador de neoloxismos no galego actual

Abstract

The aim of this project has been the study of a group of lexical neologisms from contemporary Galician created from the combining form auto-. After establishing a corpus of 73 lemmata with auto-, extracted from various blogs and online newspapers, first, a synchronic study and, then a micro-diachrony analysis was conducted. We have compared our data to the data obtained in the analysis of neologisms in the Galician press at the end of the 20th and early 21st century. In addition, we have reflected on the theoretical foundations of the main Galician and foreign grammars regarding the boundaries between prefixes and combining forms in order to categorise auto- as one of them.
