Abstract
In this paper the possibility to estimate the sound strength of a room using theoretical expressions obtained from the difusse-field theory is discussed. The sound strength of three sets of rooms is analyzed: a first set contains the information of real rooms which includes the results of real measurements performed by several authors. A second set of rooms are supplied the room acoustics simulation software Odeon©. A third group is randomly generated set and simulated using Odeon. This data base includes the information of more than 100 rooms and it is the reference to validate the equations proposed. The JND of the sound strength together with the values of the sound strength factor included in the data base are used to define the acceptance and rejection criteria.
