The study of the genome of commercial gadiforms is an element of competitiveness as it allows optimizing their fishing management and improving their cultivation through improved growth and resistance to diseases. This doctoral thesis proposes the development and application of genetic tools as a methodological strategy to enhance the stocks optimization of two important fish species for aquaculture. In the methodological objectives, it is proposed to apply gene sequencing and molecular phylogenetics, the analysis of gene expression and the development of EST markers, respectively, to resolve situations of phylogenetic uncertainty, the selection of progenitors in culture and the characterization of fish stocks.
