Resumo

Residential care is one of the most important protection resources for children and adolescents.The objective of this study is to build and validate a scale for evaluating the quality of residential care for minors (VAR) based on the opinion of the professionals involved. The sample is composed by536 professionals. We provide evidence of content validity through expert ratings and evidence of internal structure through exploratory factor analysis. The recordsobtained were analyzed by sixjudges based on their correspondence and their semantic clarity. The analysis of the internal structure of the 50 itemswas carried out by means of an exploratory factorial analysis using the main component method with Varimax rotation that showed a solution of 5 factors. The structure with five dimensions revealed good fit statistics.The reliability analysis showed high values of internal consistency for the global scale and for each of the factors. 1) Professional quality and individualization, 2) Process: income and permanence, 3) Resources, 4) Regulatory adaptation, 5) Future perspectives. Reliability analysis showed high internal consistency values for the global scale and for each of the factors. Therefore, this instrument is adequate and will allow future research as well as actions aimed at implementing, monitoring, guideor improving professional performance plans. It is also conceived asan initial diagnostic material orneeds analysis and evaluation of the effectiveness of the guidance interventions.
