Resumo

This article examines the pro-Galician discourse produced by the state-level right-wing and centrist parties between the death of Franco and the second regional elections in Galicia. It analyses whether the regional dimension of this discourse contributed to reinforcing a regional identity, and whether this identity was compatible or at odds with the nation-state. Finally, it studies the possible influence of the implementation of this discourse and the policies associated with it in preventing the consolidation of a centre-right Galician nationalist party.
