Objective: With the irruption of the SARS-COVID pandemic, in March 2020 the Spanishgovernment decreed a strict confinement i.e., persons were confined at home constrainingout home activities to essentials. As for those separated parents were encouraged to decideabout the convenience and plan of the visit regime, interchange, and communication withthe offspring. Method: A field study with family lawyers with the aim of estimating theinfluence of this contingency in their amount of work, the causes of the receivedconsultations, and their recommendations about if the children interchanges should besuspended and, in the case, under what circumstances. A total of 293 Spanish familylawyers answered to an online questionnaire about these questions. Results andconclusions: The results revealed that there was an increase in parents’ consultations tofamily lawyers, underscoring the fear of contagion and transmission of the viruses andthe lack of clear information as to proceed. Furthermore, family lawyers stressed thatrecommendations to clients required from a study the circumstances of each family. Ingeneral, family lawyers recommended that exchanges should be suspended if both parentsagreed; if there was someone infected in any of the homes; if quarantine had beendetermined in any of the homes; if one of the parents had a profession of risk forcontagion; and when there was a great distance between homes.
