Abstract

Music is a fundamental element of the user experience. Although the image in a video game is the conscious focus of action, sound (and more specifically, music) provides a number of effects, sensations or significances. As in the audiovisual narratives, interactive games integrate diegetic and -above all- extra diegetic music. Beyond aesthetics, localizing or emotive function, music out of action is particularly important in the field of video games, becoming a reference both from a narrative perspective and from usability and gaming experience. From the moment the music accompanies the trajectory of the character it is going to affect the creation and definition of the diegesis. The extension of the period of analysis enables the evolution from the first instalment, in 8 bits, to the latest orchestrated for next generation consoles. A story that can be told through scores of Koji Kondo, converted into musical tour in 2014 by Nintendo. Beyond the quality of their "soundtrack," The Legend of Zelda is a special game from the musical perspective. Among the objects that hold players to complete the actions include a number of musical instruments or objects, that make the music and the songs also a key element to access and overcome levels to save Hyrule.
