Resumo

The so-called digital revolution which independentaudivisual production has undergone these last yearshas prompted a series of transformations in the filmingprocess and in audiovisual distribution and exhibition. This digitalization has facilitated the creation of newaudiovisual proposals at the margins of the industry, asnow, with limited means (a camera and a computer),anybody can make a film. Along with the proliferation of projects of a more personal and experimentalnature, the aforementioned revolution has caused thedissapearance of movie theaters due to the emergenceof other forms of consumption in which the Internetplays a central role. All this means that these artistshave to seek new channels of film distribution and exhibition; thus, we have seen how the museum and other exhibition spaces have been transformed to becomereceiving centers of this type of works which don’thave a place in established or mainstream channels. In addition to analyzing this new scenario, this paperputs forth a reflection regarding the relation betweencinema and these new exhibition spaces taking into account different cases and also discusses how these different public settings influence the content, structureand reception of audio-visual creations.
