Résumé

In this paper I describe a range of uses that human beings give to the expressions of type “ if… then…” when everyday language is used. On many occasions, this type of statements represent conditionals, whose study has been fruitful in various fields, and now also it is interesting to Computer Science since “ if... then...” (“ if… then…”) expressions constitute one of the main flow control statements in the context of programming languages. The analysis of conditionals, both aimed to identification automatically and its semantic interpretation by a computer, is interesting for what is now known as Computing with Words (Zadeh 1999). This is a multidisciplinary and complex work and, therefore, this paper is a half way among Linguistics, Philosophy of Language, Logic and Computer Science. It may be interesting in itself in any of these four areas, provided that considers relevant observation of the use of Spanish speakers make expressions “If the type…then…”.
