The objectives to be acquired during the development of this thesis are, in terms of knowledge, skills and competences: 1. Plan and workflow of tasks to develop a new line of low‐loss waveguides by means of Zn diffusion or an alternative route over the InP wafer. 2. Report on the effects of Zn diffusion over the performance of active building blocks, validation of the Zn diffused doping in the generic platform process, process window of the Zn diffusion taking into account Zn diffusion tolerances and layer thicknesses. 3. Summary of loss measurements and impact in the performance of passive building blocks. 4. Datasets from these measurements to feed the compact models obtained in step 1. 5. Complementary skills: scientific publications, conferences, workshops and schools
