Resumo

The study about civil liability in case of accident is one of the main cha-llenges caused by the appearance and announced popularization of autonomous and highly automated vehicles. On the other hand, civil liability in respect of the use of motor vehicles is an issue strongly influenced by the compulsory motor insurance, and laws of Member States over that are basically affected by EU rules. So, taking in mind these rules, we have considered if the current European legal framework on compulsory motor insurance is enough and appropriate, or whether the appearance of this kind of vehicles will necessarily imply legal changes.
