Abstract
The Spanish Cinematographic Newsreel, better known as NO-DO, is a very useful source of information for the knowledge of the contemporary history of our country. Precisely the objective of this article is to explain how this weekly newsreel program showed to the Spanish society the existence of the Basque nationalist terrorist organization Euskadi Ta Askatasuna (ETA). This study will give us an audiovisual vision of the Basque conflict, which is essential for its divulgation, especially among young people since this type of contents are more attractive to them; what is more, promptly, the analysis of the NO-DO newsreel will be complemented with some reports of the programme Informe Semanal produced by Televisión Española (TVE). The potential of NO-DO has been wasted in some occasions, due to certain prejudices towards its use as an historical source because of the biased nature of the information and its ideological content.
