Abstract

The Couto Mixto was a territory located in the valley of the Salas River, composed of three villages, which belonged to the kingdoms of Spain and Portugal, holding a series of political, administrative, and commercial privileges. It was annexed to the Spanish kingdom with the Treaty of limits from the mouth of the Miño to the union of the Caya river with the Guadiana between Spain and Portugal, signed on September 29, 1864. In this work a review of the bibliography and sources is carried out. published about the history and origin of the place
