Abstract

Gnammas (weathering pits) are small depressions developed on flat or gently sloped rock surfaces in granitic landscapes. These minor forms also can be developed in greatly sloped surfaces when they are located in a border position on the rock. This work proves the role of the forms position on their morphological properties and pattern evolution. Study cases come from the Sierra de Gomariz summit (Galicia, NW Iberian Massif) where the cavities are located in flat, gently and greatly sloped rock surfaces. The results show several groups of gnammas, closely related to the position, and explain their differential development.
