Abstract

This study focuses on the area of health. It tries to improve our knowledge about quality of life and physical fitness in health sedentary elder women. Therefore, the aims of this study were to determine the effects of a four season physical activity program on HRQL and healthy physical fitness on sedentary older women. As well as, determine the effects of detraining after the implementation of the program in this group. The study sample was composed by 20 sedentary elder women (71.71 ± 5.13 years old). Who had never been involved in physical and sport activities. All the participants completed the SF-Health Survey and performed the test battery AFISAL-INEFC. The analysis and interpretation shows that two weekly sessions maintain the domains of HRQL, although a greater weekly frequency is more effective. Two weekly sessions and moderate-high intensity is effective to maintain the values of HQRL during detraining, but a greater weekly frequency is more effective. Similarly, this frequency and this intensity are effective to maintain the components of healthy physical fitness during detraining, except weight and BMI, because they increase them.
