Resumo

Background. Aronson Jigsaw technique (AJT) is an active methodology to develop cooperative learning experiences. Our objective was to test the influence of a learning experience using Jigsaw technique on academic performance, evaluating the importance of the part each student is an expert. Method. The use of AJT to develop a theme that is included in the course of General Physiotherapy, a course that belongs to the Degree in Physiotherapy of the University of Vigo, in the academic courses of 2011-2012 and 2012-13 (n=48). At the end of the activity, knowledge was assessed using a multiple choice test. Data analysis was carried out using SPSS, version 19. Results. The results of the test provided an average score of 4.9 out of 10 (range from 2.4 to 8.3). Those scores were significantly worse (mean of 4.3, range from 1.7 to 7.2), if to each student those part referent to the part they were expert was not considered. Conclusion. AJT seems to promote a better understanding of those subjects in which each student was an expert.
