Resumo

The aim of this study is to design, test and validate a questionnaire as a survey instrument to identify the use of strategies for learning English as a foreign language. It consists of eight questions for students identification, 58 close-ended questions for yes and no answers, which allow the analysis of the percentage of students who use a particular strategy, and a Likert-type scale for each of the 58 items that allows the students to report the frequency of strategy use. The item analysis was performed using the homogeneity index, the calculation of internal consistency and construct validity.
