Abstract
The aim of this paper consist on carrying out a descriptive analysis of the programmatic style of private television in the UK through the case study of Independent Television (ITV), the main station in terms of audience and historicity. The methodological design arises through a content analysis from the programming grids.We attend mainly to the delimitation of the main genres and specific programs used in the peak time slot by ITV. Finally, the strength of this research is sought by comparison with the practices and strategies of the Spanish television market.
