Résumé

The main aim of this paper is to provide a reflection around the “cluster organization” concept as a key issue in sectoral competitiveness within a given territory. Theory of intangible management through intellectual capital is introduced to conceptualize the “cluster” definition. This allows stressing the relevance of the appropriate management of external and internal elements to the enterprises, most of them inside the cluster itself. The former are closely related to the intangible resources and capabilities of a territory, which provide comparative advantages in relation to other firms of similar activities from other zones. The latter, reinforced by the former, are a basic source of intangibles to obtain competitive advantages. Subsequently, each firm must create their own advantage. Thus, relational capital of firms is remarked as a key issue in a cluster and finally some basic elements are highlighted in the final configuration and success of a cluster.
