Resumo
Business tourism or MICE is an interesting alternative for urban destinations, since a positive impact on the local economy and contributes to the seasonality of tourism. Spain has positioned itself worldwide as a MICE destination, increasing in recent years congresses and conferences. It is therefore interesting to obtain and analyze all the information possible about the type of tourists who come to these events, as well as how the same is reported as adequate promotion is essential to capture events and then attendees. As a preliminary study is considered a MICE event held in February 2015 in the city of Ourense (Galicia), which have moved more than 250 attendees: the XXV Jornadas Hispanolusas de Gestión Científica. In particular, the results of two surveys, one conducted before and another one after the conclusion of the event to registered speakers, allowing shed light on some interesting aspects are presented: i) planning of movement and residence in Ourense, including knowledge and assessment the city as a tourist destination; ii) the communication campaign and other relevant aspects of the conference, as well as professional benefits that respondents expected to obtain; iii) the sociodemographic profile of the speakers.
