Resumo

Since the appearance of the university degree in Social Education in Spain, the debate about scope of activities has been generated, being one of the most questioned the school. In this context, the objective of this study is analyze the figure of the social educator in secondary schools from the perspective of the educational orientation. To this end, six interviews are conducted with counselors and counselors from secondary schools, both private / concerted and public in the city of Ourense, as well as a specialist from the Specific Guidance Team of the province. The main results obtained from this research show a lack of resources, especially human resources, in the centers and the need for the figure of the educator or social educator, which they would include within the Department of Orientation and the functions up to date that the teachers have been solving and the own support staff and professionals of the educational orientation, causing an overload of work to these and these professionals.
